It uses a new monobloc Cerachrom bezel in black ceramic with an updated tahcymeter design, shedding the older engraved metal bezel. It’s still got the calibre 4130 movement, but is now tested by Rolex to +2/-2 seconds per day accuracy, which is super impressive for a mass produced chronograph. The major update on the new Daytona, or at least on all ceramic editions, concerns the bezel’s construction. In the past, the Daytona used to have a full-ceramic ring. Now, the bezel is edged with a thin polished band of the same metal as the middle case.
The black Cerachrom bezel on the modern Daytona, available only on Everose models currently, is a welcomed touch. The contrast of the glistening black ceramic against Rolex's specially concocted Everose material is very nice, especially when paired with a leather strap and white dial.
On all three new Rolex Daytona’s you’ll also notice there are black subdials on top of the Meteorite dial. This looks particularly handsome against the ceramic Cerachrom bezel on the white gold Ref. 116519LN – as it adds some really beautiful contrast and continuity.
